Crypto.com Predictions Legal States 2026

Crypto.com Predictions gives users a way to trade real-money contracts on sports, politics, economics, crypto and other real-world events directly inside the Crypto.com ecosystem.

Officially called Prediction Trading within the Cypto.com app, it operates under a different model from a traditional sportsbook - which allows them to operate on a much broader footprint than regular sports betting apps.

Rather than placing a bet against Crypto.com, their platform allows you to buy or sell event contracts predicting a large range of outcomes. The prices of those contracts move as traders react to new information.

Crypto.com Predictions is currently available in 49 U.S. states plus Washington, D.C., with New York the only state where the product is completely unavailable.

Where Is Crypto.com Predictions Available?

Crypto.com Predictions is available in every U.S. state except New York. It operates in:

Alabama (AL), Alaska (AK), Arizona (AZ) Arkansas (AR), California (CA), Colorado (CO), Connecticut (CT), Delaware (DE), Florida (FL), Georgia (GA), Hawaii (HI), Idaho (ID), Illinois (IL), Indiana (IN), Iowa (IA), Kansas (KS), Kentucky (KY), Louisiana (LA), Maine (ME), Maryland (MD), Massachusetts (MA), Michigan (MI), Minnesota (MN), Mississippi (MS), Missouri (MO), Montana (MT), Nebraska (NE), Nevada (NV), New Hampshire (NH), New Jersey (NJ), New Mexico (NM), North Carolina (NC), North Dakota (ND), Ohio (OH), Oklahoma (OK), Oregon (OR), Pennsylvania (PA), Rhode Island (RI), South Carolina (SC), South Dakota (SD), Tennessee (TN), Texas (TX), Utah (UT), Vermont (VT), Virginia (VA), Washington (WA), Washington, D.C., West Virginia (WV), Wisconsin (WI), Wyoming (WY).

That gives the platform one of the broadest footprints among U.S. prediction markets, although the markets you can actually trade depend on where you are physically located.

Crypto.com currently divides into three practical access levels:

  • All Prediction Markets: 39 states + Washington, D.C.
  • Non-Sports Prediction Markets Only: 10 states
  • Unavailable: New York

Users must be at least 18 years old and complete Crypto.com's required identity verification before trading.

Crypto.com also uses location controls to determine which contracts can be accessed. That means your available markets can change when you travel from one state to another, even though you're using the same Crypto.com account.

What Markets Does Crypto.com Predictions Offer?

Crypto.com Predictions covers considerably more than sports.

Depending on your location and the contracts currently listed, you can find markets across areas including:

  • Sports: Games, championships, player and team outcomes, season-long events and other sports questions.
  • Politics: Elections and other political outcomes.
  • Economics & Financials: Interest rates, economic indicators, financial markets and related events.
  • Crypto: Cryptocurrency prices and other crypto-market outcomes.
  • Culture & Entertainment: Entertainment, media and other popular culture events.
  • Technology & Current Events: Selected technology, science, climate and news-driven markets.

The exact contract menu changes constantly. That's part of the appeal of prediction markets: when something becomes measurable, newsworthy and debatable, there's a decent chance somebody will eventually try to put a price on it.

Which Crypto.com Prediction Markets Are Available in My State?

Crypto.com Predictions does not offer the exact same market menu everywhere in the U.S.

The biggest dividing line is sports.

Users in most states can trade both sports and non-sports event contracts. In another group of states, Crypto.com remains available but sports contracts have been removed while markets covering politics, economics, crypto and other subjects can remain open.

Which States Does Crypto.com Offer Sports Contracts In?

Crypto.com currently offers sports event contracts in 39 states plus Washington, D.C.:

Alabama, Alaska, California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming, plus Washington, D.C.

If you're physically located in one of these jurisdictions, you can access Crypto.com's broader prediction-market menu, including eligible sports contracts.

That can be especially interesting in states like California, Texas and Georgia, where traditional statewide online sportsbooks remain unavailable.

Crypto.com gives users another regulated way to take positions on sports outcomes without operating as a state-licensed sportsbook.

Why Can't I Trade Crypto.com Sports Markets in My State?

Cole Redding
Editor-in-Chief

If Crypto.com sports markets are missing in your state, there's a good chance your state regulators are pushing back on whether sports event contracts should be allowed there.

The sticking point is pretty simple: regulators in several states look at a contract predicting who wins a game and say, that's sports betting. Prediction markets argue they're federally regulated financial contracts instead.

Crypto.com doesn't necessarily have to leave the state altogether while that fight plays out. In some places, it can keep offering non-sports markets and simply remove sports from the menu.

So if you can trade politics or crypto but can't touch the NFL, that's probably why. The legal argument gets much messier than that, but I'll happily let Marcus deal with the legalese.

Crypto.com States With No Sports Markets

Crypto.com Predictions remains available in the following 10 states, but sports event contracts are currently unavailable:

Arizona, Arkansas, Connecticut, Illinois, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada and Ohio.

Users in these states can still access eligible non-sports prediction markets.

Depending on the contracts listed at the time, that can include markets covering areas such as:

  • Politics
  • Economics
  • Financial markets
  • Crypto
  • Culture and entertainment

So if you live in one of these states, Crypto.com Predictions has not disappeared. The product is simply narrower because sports contracts have been removed from the menu.

States Where Crypto.com Predictions Is Unavailable

Crypto.com Predictions is currently unavailable in:

New York

New York is the only U.S. state where Crypto.com's broader U.S. app footprint remains unavailable, so users physically located there cannot access Crypto.com Prediction Trading.

That restriction applies to the Crypto.com Predictions product itself rather than just sports markets.

As with every prediction-market availability map, this can change. State regulators, federal courts and operators are still fighting over where the boundaries sit, particularly when sports event contracts are involved.

How Does Crypto.com Predictions Work?

Crypto.com Predictions is built around event contracts.

Each market asks a question with clearly defined outcomes. In the simplest format, that means choosing whether you think something will or will not happen.

A contract might ask:

  • Will a particular team win a championship?
  • Will Bitcoin finish above a certain price?
  • Will the Federal Reserve change interest rates?
  • Will a candidate win an election?

Contracts are priced between $0 and $1, and the price acts as an implied probability.

If a “Yes” contract trades at $0.64, the market is effectively pricing the outcome at around a 64% chance.

Buy ten contracts at $0.64 and your position costs $6.40. If the outcome happens and the contracts settle at $1 each, you receive $10, leaving $3.60 before applicable fees. If the outcome does not happen, those contracts settle at $0.

You also don't necessarily have to wait until settlement. If the market price changes, Crypto.com allows eligible positions to be closed before the underlying event resolves. That means your position can gain or lose value as other traders react to news.

Using Crypto.com Predictions as a Bettor

JD Daniels
Senior Sportsbook Analyst

The first thing sportsbook users need to get out of their heads is that Crypto.com isn't just showing you another odds format.

If a sportsbook hangs -150 on a team, you're accepting a price created by the book. On Crypto.com Predictions, you're looking at a market price being shaped by people buying and selling contracts.

That changes how I think about value.

Say I'm holding Yes at $0.40 and breaking news pushes it to $0.70. I don't necessarily need to sit around praying for the final result. I can potentially sell the position and lock in value before the event ends.

Liquidity matters too. A sportsbook can usually take your standard NFL bet instantly because the operator controls the market. On an exchange-style product, you need other market participants. Bigger markets normally trade more smoothly, while obscure markets can be thinner and jumpier.

Can I Win Real Money on Crypto.com Predictions?

Yes. Crypto.com Predictions is a real-money product.

You use actual funds to open positions, and winning contracts settle back into your account as real money.

Crypto.com Prediction Trading is connected to the broader Crypto.com ecosystem, so eligible users can fund positions through their USD Cash Account. Supported cryptocurrency can also be converted into USD before a trade is placed.

The basic profit model is straightforward.

If you buy 20 Yes contracts for $0.30 each:

  • Your position costs $6
  • If the event happens, the contracts settle for $20
  • Your gross profit is $14 before applicable fees
  • If the event does not happen, the contracts settle at $0 and you lose the $6 position cost

You can also potentially exit the position early by selling your contracts at the current market price.

That makes prediction trading more flexible than a simple all-or-nothing bet. Your position has a live value before settlement, and that value can change dramatically as new information hits the market.

Why Is Crypto.com Predictions Legal?

Marcus Holt
Regulatory Advisor

Crypto.com Predictions sits in a very different legal bucket from Crypto.com launching a sportsbook and taking wagers state by state.

The contracts are offered through Crypto.com | Derivatives North America, operating within a federally regulated derivatives structure overseen by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.

That federal framework is the foundation of the product.

A traditional sportsbook normally needs approval from each state in which it wants to take bets. A federally regulated prediction market lists event contracts through the commodities and derivatives system instead. From the operator's perspective, customers are trading regulated contracts rather than placing gambling wagers with a bookmaker.

For users, that is why Crypto.com can offer prediction markets in states where a normal Crypto.com sportsbook could not simply launch.

Sports contracts are where the argument gets harder.

Several state regulators maintain that contracts tied to sporting events amount to sports wagering and should fall under their gambling laws.

Courts and regulators are still sorting out that boundary, and the answer has not been uniform nationwide. Crypto.com's practical response has been to restrict sports contracts in some jurisdictions while continuing to offer eligible non-sports markets there.
