PrizePicks Predict Legal States 2026
PrizePicks Predict is the real-money prediction market side of PrizePicks, offering event contracts through two products: Team Picks for sports and Culture Picks for everything from politics and crypto to entertainment.
Predict is available in 46 states plus Washington, D.C., however what you can actually trade depends heavily on where you are physically located.
Users in 33 states can access both Team and Culture Picks. Another 13 states plus D.C. get Culture Picks without sports markets.
That unusually wide footprint comes from a different regulatory setup than a conventional sportsbook. PrizePicks Predict operates through the federal derivatives framework rather than relying on a separate sportsbook license in every state.
Where Is PrizePicks Predict Available?
PrizePicks Predict is available in 46 states plus Washington, D.C.:
Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming and Washington, D.C.
The important catch is that available does not mean the platform identical in all states. PrizePicks splits Predict into Team Picks and Culture Picks, with sports access having a much smaller footprint than the broader Culture product.
Age requirements also vary. Most eligible jurisdictions use an 18+ minimum, while Alabama and Colorado require users to be at least 19 and Illinois, Massachusetts and Virginia require users to be 21.
Your physical location matters as much as your home address. PrizePicks applies the rules of the jurisdiction you are physically in while using the app, so traveling can change which products you can access.
Users will need to complete PrizePicks' identity-verification process. That can include your name, date of birth, residential address and government-issued ID - and in some cases a valid Social Security Number
What Markets Does PrizePicks Predict Offer?
PrizePicks Predict divides its markets into Team Picks and Culture Picks, but the actual subjects go considerably wider than those two labels suggest.
Team Picks include:
- Sports: NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, college sports, soccer, golf and other sporting events, including winners, spreads, totals and futures.
Culture Picks include:
- Politics: Elections and other political outcomes.
- Economics & Finance: Financial and economic events.
- Crypto: Outcomes tied to cryptocurrency prices, including Bitcoin and Ethereum.
- Culture & Entertainment: Movies, music, awards and other pop-culture events.
The exact contracts are constantly changing. Prediction markets are built around whatever is happening now, so yesterday's Oscar market can become tomorrow's election market or Bitcoin price question.
Which XXX Markets Are Available in My State?
There are three practical levels of PrizePicks Predict access.
The broadest group gets both Team Picks and Culture Picks, meaning sports contracts sit alongside politics, crypto, entertainment and other non-sports events.
A second group gets Culture Picks only. PrizePicks Predict still works there, but Team Picks tied to sporting events are removed.
Four states currently get neither product.
Which States Does PrizePicks Predict Offer Team Picks In?
PrizePicks Predict offers both Team Picks and Culture Picks in 33 states:
Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, New Jersey, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
If you're physically located in one of these states, you can use PrizePicks Predict for sports outcomes alongside its non-sports Culture markets.
Team Picks cover the kind of outcomes that will look instantly familiar to a sportsbook bettor: game winners, point spreads, totals, futures, and more.
The presentation is different, however. You're buying event contracts rather than taking conventional sportsbook odds, with pricing changing as demand moves between the possible outcomes.
Why Does PrizePicks Offer Team Picks in Some States but Not Others?

Sports contracts are where prediction markets run into the most resistance from state gambling regulators.
PrizePicks Predict operates through a federal derivatives framework, but some states have taken the position that a contract based on who wins a football game or covers a spread still looks an awful lot like sports betting happening inside their borders.
Those states are challenging the idea that federal commodities regulation automatically overrides their own gambling laws. But even when sports contracts are disputed, that does not mean PrizePicks has to pull Predict entirely.
Culture Picks cover different kinds of events, so PrizePicks can remove the sports side in a state while keeping non-sports contracts available. Missouri is a good example: Team Picks were removed while Culture Picks remained.
The result is a map that can look strange if you're used to sportsbooks. One state gets NFL markets and presidential elections. Cross the state line and the politics stay, but the NFL disappears.
XXX States With No Sports Markets
PrizePicks Predict remains available in 13 states plus Washington, D.C. without Team Picks:
Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C.
Users in these jurisdictions can make eligible Culture Picks, but they cannot access PrizePicks Predict's sports event contracts.
That still leaves a substantial market menu. Depending on what is currently listed, Culture Picks can include:
- Politics and elections
- Crypto prices
- Economic and financial events
- Movies and awards
- Music
- Other entertainment and cultural outcomes
PrizePicks Predict is unavailable in four states:
- Arizona
- Nevada
- New York
- Washington
This is specifically a PrizePicks Predict restriction. PrizePicks has several products inside the same broader app, and their state footprints do not perfectly overlap.
Bettors in Arizona and New York, for example, can still have access to PrizePicks Player Picks - even though Team and Culture Picks are unavailable.
Nevada has Free2Play availability rather than paid PrizePicks Predict access.
If you're traveling, the restriction follows your physical location. An account created in an eligible state does not give you a permanent passport around PrizePicks' geolocation rules.

How Does PrizePicks Predict Work?
PrizePicks Predict uses event contracts tied to questions with defined outcomes.
A Team Pick could ask which team wins a game, whether the total lands above a certain number or who wins a championship. A Culture Pick could ask who wins an election, whether Bitcoin reaches a particular price or which film takes home an award.
Each outcome has a contract price between $0 and $1. That price can move as traders take positions and the market's view of the event changes.
A more popular outcome generally becomes more expensive. A less popular outcome costs less and therefore offers more potential upside if it turns out to be correct.
You can hold your contracts until the event resolves or exit beforehand when an early payout is available. If the market has moved in your favor, the contracts may be worth more than you originally paid. If sentiment has moved against you, they may be worth less.
PrizePicks applies a service fee when contracts are bought or sold. The current fee ranges from $0.005 to $0.02 per contract, while no additional service fee is charged at normal settlement if you hold the position through its closing date.
PrizePicks Predict for a Sports Bettor

If you've spent years staring at -110 and +150, the first weird thing about PrizePicks Predict is seeing everything priced in cents.
The translation isn't difficult.
Say an outcome costs 60 cents. You're effectively risking 60 cents for the chance at the contract's full winning value. A cheaper 30-cent contract gives you more upside, but the market is also telling you that outcome is considered much less likely.
Where things get more interesting is after you enter.
A sportsbook bet is usually frozen once you place it unless the book decides to offer a cash-out. With PrizePicks Predict, the value of your contract can move as the market moves, and you may be able to exit before the event finishes.
That gives you another decision to make. You aren't only asking, "Will I be right at the end?" You can also ask whether the market has already moved far enough in your favor to take the profit now.
The trade-off is that you need to think about contract prices, fees and liquidity instead of just comparing American odds and vig.
Different interface. Same old problem: figure out whether the market is wrong before everyone else does.

Can I Win Real Money on PrizePicks Predict?
Yes. PrizePicks Predict uses real-money event contracts.
You commit real money when purchasing Team or Culture Pick contracts, and the amount you can win is shown before you submit the order.
Suppose an outcome is priced at $0.40 per contract and the winning settlement value is $1. Buying 10 contracts would cost roughly $4 before applicable service fees.
If your outcome wins and those contracts settle for $10 in total, your gross gain is $6 before costs. If the outcome loses, the contracts can expire worthless.
You don't always have to wait until settlement. PrizePicks allows eligible contracts to be sold early based on their current market value, subject to market liquidity.
That can work both ways. A contract bought at 40 cents might later be worth 70 cents after new information moves the market, giving you an opportunity to exit at a profit. It can just as easily fall to 15 cents when reality starts punching your prediction in the face.
Why Is PrizePicks Predict Legal?

Performance Predictions II, LLC, doing business as PrizePicks Predict, is registered with the CFTC as a Futures Commission Merchant (FCM) and is a member of the National Futures Association.
That is the regulatory basis PrizePicks relies on for Predict. Rather than taking sports wagers under individual state sportsbook licenses, the FCM accepts customer orders for event contracts offered through federally regulated derivatives markets.
That is how PrizePicks Predict can offer real-money sports contracts in places such as California and Texas, where traditional statewide online sportsbooks are not legal.
The unsettled question is how far that federal framework reaches when the underlying event is a sporting contest. Some state regulators argue that sports event contracts still constitute sports wagering within their borders and should therefore comply with state gambling laws. Prediction market companies argue that federally regulated event contracts fall under federal commodities jurisdiction instead.
That state-versus-federal dispute is still playing out through regulatory actions and legal challenges. Until there is a clearer nationwide resolution, operators such as PrizePicks are navigating it state by state.
That helps explain the unusual availability map: In some jurisdictions, PrizePicks offers both Team Picks and Culture Picks. In others, strong regulatory opposition to sports contracts has led it to remove Team Picks while keeping non-sports Culture Picks available.
