Online Sports Betting in Oklahoma

Oklahoma surprised everyone in 2020 when the Governor Stitt was able to come to an agreement with the Otoe-Missouria Tribe and the Comanche Nation over a potential compacts which would allow for sports betting at their casinos.

The good news just continued. The federal government did not oppose the compacts and the US dept of Interior approved the compacts.

But very little in life, can go that smoothly. No sooner had the compacts been approved, than Attorney General Mike Hunter stated that the law violated state law. This means that the decision made by the Department of the Interior is likely to be challenged. This means it is also likely that both the House and Senate will support Hunter. The Oklahoma Indian Gaming Association had initially agreed to the compacts but they have now suspended the Otoe-Missouria Tribe and the Comanche Nation.

It looks like it could get messy in Oklahoma but eventually we suspect that there will be some form of agreement. This agreement is unlikely to feature mobile wagering. Oklahomans will also not be allowed to bet on the hugely popular state collegiate sports.
