Parx Sportsbook: All you need to know

Parx's move into the world of online sports betting has not caught anyone by surprise. The company began with a racing track in Pennsylvania before opening the state's largest casino.

When the Keystone State became one of the first in the US to legalise sports betting, it was only a matter of time before Parx got involved.

Parx have invested $10 million in a license and will pay 36% tax on all their profits. These barriers to entry have put off a number of other sportsbooks who were keen on Pennsylvania, so this shows a real sign of commitment from the Bensalem-based sportsbook and casino.

Now they have one of the first mobile sportsbooks up and running in Pennsylvania and so far, things look very promising.

Parx Sportsbook: the good 👍

Selection of bets: Parx has teamed up with supplier Kambi. Kambi is well established in the industry and works with many of the other major sportsbooks in the country. We have only good things to say about Kambi, working with them means that you have odds for the widest selection of bets available.

Mobile App: Pennsylvanian's prefer to place mobile wagers. 80%, in fact, would rather place a bet on their smartphone rather than on their desktop or in person. Parx were already aware of this, thanks to FanDuel, Sugarhouse and DraftKings already set up in the state. They have therefore really focused on producing an excellent app.

Parx Sportsbook: the bad 👎

It just doesn't quite match up: PARX is ok, but there are so many other top level sportsbooks like FanDuel, DraftKings and Caesars out there that everything PARX does well, they probably do a bit better, including bigger welcome bonuses, more markets, better promos, and higher odds.

Parx Sportsbook - Bettingscanner's final verdict

So far, so good, but there is plenty of room for improvement. This product has only just been launched so we really can't say anything for sure. However, so far it seems to offer everything you need in terms of sports betting via your mobile in Pennsylvania.

Parx sportsbook review

Parx is a big name, so you can expect big things with their latest venture into the online sports betting industry.

Let's kick-off our review with a look at the most important aspect of betting; the odds.

Parx's pricing is set by Kambi, which it's Pennsylvanian competitors such as Sugarhouse also use. So, at first glance, they are not really that different from the other big names. In fact, we can see that they actually raise the juice in a few places compared to their competitors. It's only small increases, and they have not been live long enough for us to say anything for certain - it's just an initial observation. This might be an effect of the extortionate 36% tax that Pennsylvania have placed on sportsbooks. The concern is that sportsbooks will simply add this to the juice.

In terms of usability, we think that Parx offers a great product.

They use the provider GAN, which its competitors also use, so things shouldn't be that different from its rivals, but we think their app is excellent, looks good and is easy to use.

Their range of bets is spectacular, especially for being so new on the market. This is the advantage of already having experience in the US market. Their selection of NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL bets are something to behold.

Their welcome bonus, as alluded to earlier is good, but the attractiveness of the American market has inflated the welcome bonuses offered by some of the other sportsbooks, which means that this generous offer from Parx proves slightly underwhelming.

Depositing and withdrawing in the US, has given us a number of headaches in the office, so thankfully Parx have delivered in this area, they offer a wide range of payment options, and they are a reputable brand, so you can feel secure that your money is in good hands.

Parx sportsbook mobile app

80% of wagers in the US are placed on a smartphone. So every new sportsbook has focused its efforts on producing a quality app.

Parx has more than delivered in this area with their mobile app that is available for both iOS and Android. Here are the areas in which it excels:

Usability: this app is incredibly easy to navigate, with the main menu, that takes you wherever you want.

Appearance: clean and crisp is how we would describe their app.

Safety: Logging in can be a real pain in the butt, but security is incredibly important with any account that handles your payment options. Parx offers a face recognition system that means you can enjoy the feeling of security without feeling like you are getting into fort Knox.

Parx sportsbook desktop site

The majority of Parx's customers will use their mobile app to place their bets. This means that some sportsbooks have neglected their desktop versions.

Parx have made sure this is not the case with their specially designed desktop site. If you prefer to sit at your laptop (or your work computer!) then you can enjoy all the functionality, lines, bets and features that Parx's app offers.

Parx in-play

There is a little trick to know which US sportsbooks will be great at in-play betting and that is if they have a brick and mortar sportsbook in the US. Put simply, nothing beats local experience.

Since online sports betting was only legalized in 2018, sports betting in the US has always taken place in establishments, where the sport is displayed on TVs or at racecourses. This means that in-play betting is firmly established in US bettors habits.

Now, Parx's sportsbook had only been active a few months before they launched their online version, but we believe that small slice of experience is why their in-play betting is as good as it is.

The lines are excellent, their app is not buggy so there are no delays in placing your bet - something that can be disastrous when placing bets live - and their selection of events to in-play bet on is extensive. It's a thumbs up from us!

Parx sportsbook depositing methods

When it comes to payment methods, Parx beats the market average for options available to you. Parx currently offers the following deposit methods:

  • Visa/MasterCard credit cards
  • Visa/MasterCard debit cards
  • Parx Play+: Not all banks are up to date regarding sports betting legislation, so they will reject your card payment even when you are doing nothing wrong. If you find yourself in this situation you can simply get a Parx Play+ card and top it up with your Visa or MasterCard and circumvent the direct payment.
  • Cash payment at the Parx Casino cage: If you are passing by their Bensalem complex then you can pay in cash.
  • Bank Transfer
  • Paper Checks: Sometimes old school is best.
  • ACH (e-check): signing in through your banking portal.
  • PayNearMe: You can top up at CVS, Family Dollar or 7-Eleven stores

Parx withdrawing

Ok, so you bagged yourself some winnings and now you want to get paid! Unfortunately, there are far fewer options available to you when you with withdraw than when you deposited. Doesn't seem fair right? We get you - but this is the norm in the industry and not specific to Parx.

These are the options available to you at Parx:

  • Parx Play+ card
  • Cash at the Parx Casino cage in Bensalem
  • Paper Checks
  • ACH (e-check)

Personally we like the Parx Play + card, especially if you are planning on placing a few bets with Parx.

The turnaround times are a little slower than the industry standard, but it is important to bear in mind that their online service has only been running for a very short period of time, so we expect to see an improvement very soon. They currently take about 3-4 days.
